Azure (2010)

For Brass Quintet

Duration 2'00

Premiered at the Christopher Newport University Composathon on November 21, 2010 by the Cardinal Brass Quintet.

Program Notes

The color azure is a sky blue.  This movement is a musical representation of a clear, beautiful azure sky.  Amidst this sky, a hang glider floats through the air.  With the ground beneath him passing by in a blur of color, the azure sky provides a monotone blanket of blue.  The movement features the first trumpet player on flugelhorn and each instrument passes the melodic motif throughout the work.
