Icarus (2011)

For Orchestra

Duration:  6'10

Program Notes

Icarus is a brief concert opener. It applies the old Greek tale of Icarus’s prideful yet doomed flight to an alien species attacking the United States. The work illustrates the flight to Earth and resulting invasion, which proves unsuccessful against the superior military force of the United State of America. Just as Icarus foolishly allows his pride to rule his ill- fated decisions, the aliens crash and burn after their attempt. However a few escape and perhaps will return for revenge.
